SOCCER OFFICIAL RECRUITING LETTER FROM SECTION IV
Please read the following letter. Although it is addressed to graduating seniors, the information applies to anyone who is interested in this opportunity. Our sport needs people to take this opportunity.
Triple Cities Soccer Officials Association 38 Patricia Street Binghamton, NY 13905
April 23, 2013 Dear Coach: On behalf of the Triple Cities Soccer Officials Association members, I hope that this soccer season met with your expectations. As your high school soccer season draws to a close, you will be saying good-bye to your senior players. Some players may be fortunate to continue to play in college. But for most players, this will conclude their play for an educational institution. There is currently a critical need for young soccer referees who have played and have begun to learn the game. The current roster of experienced soccer referees in Section IV, is much older than recommended for organizations such as ours. I am requesting that you distribute the second page of this letter to all of your senior players. One never knows who might be interested in this type of work and who might develop into an outstanding soccer referee. Even if a player is not interested immediately, your endorsement might take a few years to come to fulfillment. Recent high school graduates are able to work modified games and work their way up to junior varsity and varsity games in just a few years. Recent college graduates usually experience a more accelerated development to being assigned to varsity games. Sports officials in New York State are independent contractors. They are trained by the officials association. The hours are flexible as they work on days and at times that they are available. This works well for both college students and for young people who may have secured only part time work as they begin their careers. As careers develop, officiating remains flexible in whatever geographical location one lives and with whatever hours they are available. Your cooperation in this effort is deeply appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jim Miller President Triple Cities Soccer Officials Association 607 343-9113 Keep Reading PLEASE Triple Cities Soccer Officials Association Dear Senior Soccer Player:
